Ever wonder what the 1st day is like after Tommy John surgery, also known as Ulnar Collateral Ligament reconstruction? This guy is 5 days out of surgery and ready to begin his rehab journey. The torn ligament was repaired and a tissue graft from his forearm (palmaris longus tendon) was used to reconstruct the new ligament. Today's PT was about cleaning the wound & gentle range of motion to the elbow, wrist, and hand. In 4-5 months, we hope to begin throwing with the goal of pitching off the mound 3 months later and return to game action 12 months post-op. [Permission by the patient to use this video]
