DAVID GINOLA was quite simply the most exciting winger of the 1990's. With an ability to cross the ball like David Beckham with either foot, and the dribbling prowess of his idol Johan Cruyff, David Ginola was an absolute joy to behold when playing in the colours of PSG, Newcastle United and then Tottenham Hotspurs.
Whilst harshly excluded from the French World Cup winning squad of 1998 by the French FA, David Ginola would use the disappointment to "spur" him on to win the 1998-1999 PFA players' player of the year, as well as the Football Writers' player of the year awards.
This tribute to Ginola is simply my way of saying "merci David" - truly a one-off talent, and in my book, still the most under-rated "two-footed" player since Glenn Hoddle.
