When you're injured and trying to restore range of motion (ROM), leg presses (with as little as an empty cradle) can be much more effective early on than shallow box squats. I used it while injured to regain some strength in my quads while deliberately trying to let it “push me down” into more range of motion, passively. It was better than any stretch or drill, and it doubled as hard work for the quads and knees. – Lee Boyce
