A series of storm systems will combine into a large, potent storm system across the central and northern plains on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This will result in heavy snow for the Rockies and Northern Plains, and a white Christmas for these areas. Many areas will receive between 6 and 12 inches of snow, especially across the Rockies and Plains. An Ice storm is possible across portions of the Dakotas, Iowa, and Minnesota, with between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of ice accretion possible. Heavy rain will result in scattered flooding for millions of people across the south over the next several days as well.
