The Sondu area has experienced conflicts between the Kalenjins in Kericho and Luos in Kisumu, leading to heightened tensions and making it a focal point of unrest.
Land disputes, issues with revenue collection, and historical grievances stemming from cattle theft have been the primary factors driving these conflicts.
Unfortunately, these challenges significantly disrupted peace and social cohesion along the Kisumu-Kericho border.
To address this situation, Act! took proactive measures to establish lasting peace along the border. These interventions were supported by the USAID Kenya Electoral Conflicts Mitigation and Civic Education Support (ECCES) program.
