Cosmetically the biggest change when building your own RV or campervan is the paint. That also can be one of the most time consuming or costly jobs. I painted this DIY Expedition Camper for under $500. After calling a few shops, the lowest cost I had received was $12k and the highest was $18k.

I used royal exterior paint meant for sheds and barns. A couple years ago I built a aluminum walled barn and painted with that same paint, its lasted fantastic over the years. Originally this was just going to be a temporary paint job, but as time as gone on its aged and preformed perfectly.
