The objective of this video is to check the assumptions made to get the neutral axis distance which calculation has been shown in the previous video 2.13. First part of the video shows how to get the value of tensile strain for steel layer 1 giving input the obtained value of neutral axis distance into the relevant equation which derivation has been shown in the previous video. The calculated value for steel layer 1 strain is lower than steel yield strain value that results no yield means elastic case.
Moving on, the video shows how to check strain for steel layer 2 and found the result to elastic case; subsequently writes down the value of steel layer 3 strain referring previous video. Next, the video shows how to calculate compressive force for concrete and steel layer 1 as well as shows how to get the value of tensile force for steel layer 2 and 3. Finally, the video refers to next video to show how to calculate moment for pure bending condition of the given exemplary section.
