CNN reporter Camila Bernal says American citizens are being confused by President Trump's goal to lift restrictions by Easter while local authorities are reporting a rise in the nation's infections.
Congressional law makers in the US are pushing for further economic relief from the government for Americans who have lost work due to the pandemic as the number of infections passes 57,000 with 677 deaths.
Ms Bernal told Sky News “there is no specific unified message for the entire United States so some people might be confused by that”.
Government authorities will collect information from the states to help them “decide when they will ease the restrictions or enforce these restrictions once again,” she said.
She also said the US was not in the same position as other countries where law enforcers were able to force citizens to comply with government restrictions.
“At the end of the day it is left to the individual citizen to follow these guidelines to stay at home or not.”
