Canberra residents are remaining on alert as an out of control bushfire continues to burn south of the city.

The Orrorall Valley bushfire burning the Namadgi National Park was upgraded to an emergency warning on Saturday before being downgraded to a watch and act.

Authorities say fire activity has eased but warned conditions could change quickly today with more hot weather, strong winds and possible storms forecast.
