Today Dr. Emer is using Laser Tattoo Removal techniques to treat his patient's facial birthmark. Birthmarks can seem permanent and nearly impossible to resolve, but with the right technology and approach, you can usually remove the discoloration. Dr. Emer uses a combination of specialized lasers at specific wavelengths to cautiously improve birthmarks by attacking pigmentation. Birthmark removal can significantly improve a patient's confidence and overall self-esteem.
A Nevus of Ota birthmark is caused by entrapped melanocytes (pigment-producing cells) in the upper dermis. The mark appears from birth and can grow as you age and even expand onto the rest of the face and into the eyes. The birthmark is usually a blue-ish grey color.
During the laser treatment, Dr. Emer uses a Perfluorodecalin patch that allows him to do more treatments in one session. The patch blocks the formation of gas that would usually form under the skin.
To achieve long-term improvement, Dr. Emer treats patients with a combination of peels, lasers, skincare, and sun protection. Tattoo Removal Laser should be done every 6-12 weeks in various wavelengths to slowly break apart deep and superficial pigmentation in the skin. In each treatment, a small amount of pigmentation is reduced. Treating the skin with Enlighten peel before the lasers help decrease the risk of hyperpigmentation pigmentation and further reduces irregular discoloration. The patient will use soothing products including re-fit eye to heal her skin in between laser treatments.
