Sky News US Analyst Michael Ware says the plea deal for Julian Assange has been a “hard pill” for the US intelligence community to swallow.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has returned to Australia as a free man after pleading guilty to espionage in a plea deal to secure his release.
“There’s no love lost for Julian Assange on either side of the political divide here,” Mr Ware told Sky News Australia.
“This has been a hard pill for the US intelligence community to swallow, so they, of all, will have the most bitter taste in their mouths this morning, and I do believe a pardon would be a bridge too far, and I don’t see a lot of political support for it.”
