A 15 minutes time-lapse video (fast forward 20x) showing the kit assembly of the Original Prusa i3 MK3.
Prusa Research by Josef Prusa www.prusa3d.com just recently launched their new Original Prusa i3 MK3 3D printer. The Original Prusa i3 MK3 Kit can be purchased in their online shop shop.prusa3d.com for 769 Euro and then it takes about 10 hours to assemble it, from opening the package to starting the first print (all shown in the video).
Great experience: ordering, shipping, assembly and print! It just worked!
All you need to assemble the kit is in the package (even Gummi Bears), just follow the instructions in the Assembly Instructions manual. I am an experienced IKEA builder and used to follow instructions, but these instructions and the preparation of the parts are one of a kind - easy to follow, leaving no room for errors.
Anybody can do it.
Sure enough, I did the dumbest mistake ever, especially as the instructions couldn't have been clearer, I mounted the YZ frame in the wrong direction (as you can see in the video). But even so I only recognized the problem late in the game when I tried to assemble the power supply, it took only 30 min. to correct the problem.
The video was recorded in a studio using a green screen backdrop and 3 soft boxes. The video was produced with Kdenlive 17.04.3 kdenlive.org on Ubuntu 16.04 using alpha manipulations: chroma key, alpha operations (shrink soft), rotoscoping and key spill mop up to correct for the green screen. The background video and music were purchased from shutterstock www.shutterstock.com.
