German Chancellor Angela Merkel has labelled flooding across western Europe as a catastrophe with the death toll rising over 120.
Across Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands more than one thousand people are missing and officials have told communities to stay alert, warning they are still in danger.
In the German town of Erftstadt, west of Cologne, several houses have collapsed and roads have washed away.
There is caution over a Steinbach reservoir which authorities fear could burst and consume three villagers.
