A free flow when diving on a twinset should be pretty straight-forward to deal with. The tricky part when first learning is to maintain buoyancy and awareness when turning off the valve. It makes zero sense to just stay in the same position to get all those bubbles going into your face. It can easily start to lift you up. So tilt the body slightly to get the bubbles away from you.
As with any diving procedure it's important to keep the head up to maintain awareness, and make it easier to keep your position on an ascent for example.
The main issue once you have resolved the problem, is that now you are unable to donate gas.... unless the recipient is prepared to feather your right post!
If the problem has arisen relating to cold water, you may have to wait a while to see if turning it off will work. If the sensitivity of the regulator is too high, you may be able to turn it down. Otherwise you should end the dive if on a decompression dive or in an overhead environment.
