Synopsis
Chef Arthur, who is very sensitive to nature, is entertaining an important jury for dinner. Arthur who does yoga and kisses his flowers every morning turns into another character when he puts the chef apron on. He turns the kitchen into a battlefield while trying to cook the best food for the juries. There is no trace of this naïve man anymore. Arthur who is not even able to hurt a fly does not keep away from murdering animals and sacrificing anything for flavour when he steps into the kitchen.
Director Statement
"Fine dying" reflects the feeling of uneasiness I feel when I eat in my everyday life. Sometimes when I enjoy a very good dish, I don’t question anything, but sometimes I imagine the food in my plate is a living creature and it is killed for my pleasure and this leaves me with a feeling of unrest. The protagonist of the film, Arthur, takes this feeling one step further. It shows, how one person who is vegan in real life, can put aside his conscience and do everything to be successful in his career. Perhaps everyone does that. It’s just that some hides it deep inside and some expose it. The kitchen shots reflect the high emotional state of Arthur, the house and the restaurant shots reflect his serenity.
Director
He studied business at Berkeley College and he is currently studying for an M.A. in film and television at Istanbul Bilgi University. In 2019 he shot his first short film entitled “Fine dying”. The film received invitation from 33rd Edmonton Film Festival (Oscar Qualifying) and continues its festival journey. He received Special Jury Award from "Malatya International Film Festival".
