Saudi Arabia's national oil company, Aramco, has posted a record annual profit of US$161 billion which is around AU$243 billion.
In one year, Aramco made more money than BHP – the world's largest mining company – which is now worth US$231 billion.
Aramco's profit was up 46 per cent on a year ago and will swell the coffers of the Saudi kingdom and its power in the Middle East.
