We always try and hunt the front in Colorado. At the very end of the 2020 goose hunting season, we got a little snowstorm. It was a no-brainer to hit the fields! With tons of patterned up stale birds in the area, we knew we would be running traffics so we threw out two trailers and made a black hole.
As the geese got off the roost a majority flew past us to another field. After a few decoy adjustments smaller groups came back to water for a mid-day loaf we were able to call a few nice groups down. Good shooting had us out of the field by 11am with our five-man limit.
With three dogs in the pit it was a goose chance for me to work with Delta on honoring retrieves as well as getting back into the pit with no ladder or dog door. As you know the hunting dog training never stops!
A huge thanks to my friend Tee for the invite. I recently meet Tee up in Nebraska while stranded on my kayak at night with no phone, headlamp, and I was on crutches. Tee and his group pulled me back to shore, without them who knows how that could have ended up. All I know is I see a lot more hunting in our future.
