California will become the first state in the United States to require all K-12 school staff to either have the COVID-19 vaccine or submit weekly testing.
School staff isn’t just subject to teachers - the new regulation will include any member of staff that works in a California school.
California Governor Gavin Newsom announced the news today in an effort to combat the highly contagious Delta variant.
“We think this is the right thing to do and we think this is a sustainable way to keeping our schools open and to address the number one anxiety that parents like myself have for young children,” Governor Newsom said.
California schools will return from summer break this month with children also required to wear masks inside.
