Susan Capurso, an End-of-Life Doula and Lisa Strahs-Lorenc, a Bereavement Specialist discuss the role of support groups. There are many different kinds and purposes. They can not only be for grief, but also for sharing common diseases, issues of mental health, and coping with various challenges in one's life. If the experience and the group is a good one, the individual with feel a comradery and comfort in knowing that others not only understand, but can lend support and reassurance. They are led by facilitators who set up a structure and basic rules that the group follows. Both Susan and Lisa share their personal experiences with support groups and dispel some myths about them as well.
