This presentation provides an introduction to the book titled: SIMPLE-G: A Gridded Economic Approach to Analysis of Sustainability of the Earth’s Land and Water Resources, edited by Iman Haqiqi and Thomas Hertel, and published by Springer. Chapter 13 builds on Chapter 12, introducing explicit labor markets into the model. Labor markets are based on US commuting zones, within which labor is assumed to move across grid cells. Results highlight the interaction between labor mobility and the response to a global commodity price shock as well as the implications for effectiveness and incidence of conservation policies.
