Researcher, consultant, coach, and founder of LeaderMom, Catherine Flavin sat down to talk to Jason about what she sees as the biggest challenge in creating engaged employees: lack of self-awareness. She points out that about 90 percent of people claim to be self-aware, when in reality, it’s more like 10 percent.
It is human nature to be quick to judge rather than observe, making situations about oneself rather than the other person. This leads to an over-focus on negative—or mean—feedback that needs to go away.
