Tutorial on how to remove strip dissolve chrome plating from any plastic parts, leaving a clean part ready for painting.
This is real easy and can be done with household chemicals
Typical uses include stripping chrome from car trim, dechrome model parts and a whole range of household items. Once the chrome is stripped you will be left with a perfectly clean plastic part ready to take a plastic primer and whatever refinishing method you like.
NOTE: THIS METHOD IS FOR ACTUAL CHROME. Many plastic parts on models etc although very shiny, are often NOT CHROME but are aluminium laid onto the plastic by a process called vapour deposition. A good oven cleaner will remove this in minutes.
DON'T do this on chrome plated metals!
