Here we are with episode 2 of our Kerala road trip - our journey from Alleppey to Varkala with a short visit to Kumarakom. And trust us this was one really beautiful ride!
After exploring almost all the spots that were on our list in Alleppey, we went to see the beauty of the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. It was around a 32-kilometre drive to Kumarakom from our hostel. The drive was smooth with many options to stand and get the refreshments.
We were super excited to see the birds in Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. The place has been on our list for so long and since it was monsoon season, there were going to be many migrated species of birds. If you are also planning on visiting a bird sanctuary, you should visit early in the morning.
The temperature here rises as well so do not forget to carry a water bottle and other essentials to save yourself from heat. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary was a 4 kilometres walk so what we did was we walked halfway and took a local boat to explore the backwaters and it was great fun.
The next day we were off to Varkala. We have heard about the beauty of it but real travel was something beyond our expectations. Little did we know we were signing for a memory of a lifetime. What scenic views, beautiful landscapes, and the mighty ocean accompanied us. Beauty above measures. It was so majestic that we had to stop and let our heart has their fill of the views.
If you are a road trip junkie, then you really need to make this part of your Kerala road trip.
Instead of directly heading for our hostel, we stopped at Varkala Aquarium. The 3-story building had many fishes that we haven't seen before.
And finally, in the evening we reached our destination. Varkala's road has already got us excited and we couldn't wait to explore what else the city holds.
But fitting that all in one video wouldn't have done justice to the beauty. So, we will come up with a separate video for Varkala. Until then, Rolling Duo signing off this side. Do let us know your thoughts in the comments.
