Yahweh, the God of the Bible, has been rumoured to be not the one true God, but rather a lesser god among the Canaanite religion. It is claimed he is the son of Canaanite high god, EL. The story goes that Israel was originally polytheistic but over time they evolved into monotheism, and Yahweh (one of the members of the Canaanite pantheon) merged into El the high god and then became the only God. But is this true? Is there evidence to support that? Let's find out!
