The Liberals suffered a significant loss in seats on the weekend and it's time for the party to have an "honest, realistic assessment," says Liberal MP Karen Andrews.

"The loss that we sustained on the weekend was a significant loss – it was not close – we lost a lot of seats," Ms Andrews told Sky News Australia.

"We can't stick out heads in the sand – we have to be realistic about this."
