Rupal P. O’Quinn, MD, is director of cardio-oncology at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. As a cardio-oncologist, Dr. O’Quinn treats cancer patients prior to or during treatment that may have a negative impact on the heart, cancer patients at risk for heart disease or have heart disease, and cancer survivors whose hearts may have been damaged by cancer therapy.

“I recognize that cancer patients need their cancer therapy, but my job is also to protect their heart along the way,” says Dr. O’Quinn. “The hope is that these patients have the best outcomes while we're treating their cancer, but then also protecting or treating their heart from any of the cardiac toxicity that may occur.”
