Gradual onset shoulder pain is a common problem. In this video, Josh an Associate Physiotherapist at our Mount Barker clinic, explains what might be causing your shoulder pain and gives some advice and exercises to help ease your shoulder pain.
Pain at the front of the shoulder that appears after repetitive activities can often be due to a shoulder impingement. Shoulder impingement occurs usually when there is an imbalance that develops around the shoulder. Certain muscles get tight, whilst other rotator cuff muscles can become weak. This then causes the ball to incorrectly move in the shoulder socket, and leads to impingement(either bursitis or tendonitis) at the front of the shoulder.
Josh explains how your shoulder blade position affects shoulder impingement. He then teaches the correct shoulder blade position and shows how to do exercises that teach the blade to sit and move in a better way. Then he shows how to start to strengthen the shoulder itself, targeting the key rotator cuff shoulder support muscles.
