US President-elect Joe Biden has formally been granted access to daily security and intelligence briefings – marking another major step forward in the transition process as more states certify election results.
While President Trump hasn’t officially conceded and spent his day pardoning a turkey named Corn and shifting focus to vaccines and stock market records, Mr Biden took his cabinet picks to the global stage.
“This team, behind me, they embody my core beliefs that America’s strongest when it works with its allies,” Mr Biden said.
“Collectively, this team has secured some of the most defining national security and diplomatic achievements in recent memory, made possible through decades of experience working with our partners.
“For the first time ever, there will be a principal on the National Security Council who will make sure climate change is on the agenda in the Situation Room.”
