TIGHT HAMSTRINGS? MAYBE IT’S YOUR NERVE! ⚡️
If you’re someone who’s always struggled with ongoing hamstring tightness or strains then READ ON. ✅
A lot people believe that tight hamstrings are the culprit for a lack of forward flexion at the hip. 🦵🏻
But sometimes, the restriction may have nothing to do with the hamstrings and everything to do with NEURODYNAMICS. 😮
Believe it or not, your peripheral nervous system is meant to GLIDE and SLIDE and there are instances where structures that surround the nerve can limit the ability for the nerves to move freely between the canals that they run through. ❗️
What results is NEURAL TENSION.
A variety of functional positions in sporting movements can be impeded through neural tension resulting in:
▶️Reduced stride length in running meaning less speed.
▶️Reduced ability to bend forward on a road bike making you less aerodynamic.
▶️Reduced ability to kick, such as during football.
If you want to improve your hamstring flexibility and reduce your hamstring strains, it may be wise to first try some NEURAL GLIDES and THEN stretch your hamstring!
TRY THIS
👉Lie on your back
👉Use a band to flex your ankle back
👉Repeatedly extend your knee and lift your head up to the ceiling
👉Stretch your hamstring with a straight back!
THEN RETEST. You’ll be very surprised with how much more flexible you are!
