While icks can be caused by the smallest of things, once you’ve got it, sometimes there’s no going back.

So does the ick mean game over?

Well, the creator of the ‘ick’, Olivia Atwood seems to think it does as she said that, “once you’ve got the ick, it doesn’t go, it takes over your body”.

But to be honest this statement really depends on what it is that your date has done to turn you off and whether or not you want to try and get over it.

To find out more about this, 2,083 Brits were surveyed on exactly what gives people the ‘ick’,

It was revealed that the most common ‘icks’ are poor personal hygiene (55%), doing drugs (46%), and having bad manners (37%).

This may sound awkward as hell, but an easy solution to overcoming these problems is to communicate and be upfront about it to your date because if ignored and brushed under the carpet, an ick can grow until it becomes a far bigger issue.

However, for some people it just isn’t as easy as that as the study also found that 43% of female respondents admitted to ending a relationship due to getting the ick, and 60% said that they’d never come back from ‘the ick’.
