The withdrawal of Russian forces from Kherson in Ukraine’s south is being labelled as the “beginning of the end of the war” by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The city has recently been liberated after eight months of Russian occupation and is facing critical shortages of power and water.
Up to 70 per cent of the Kherson region is still controlled by Russia, and the danger posed by mines left behind by retreating forces remains significant.
Reports suggest Russian troops are fortifying their lines along the eastern bank of the Dnieper River.
