ADDENDUM:
Does a dinosaur live in central Africa?
Like it or not, the idea of a living dinosaur seems to fascinate us. One need look no further than the success of the Jurassic Park film franchise to confirm this fact. Mokele Mbembe is probably, or was at one time, one of the more believable cryptids. The density of the jungle and swamps in the region as well as the primitive nature of the environment seem to hold great potential for something like it to exist. A similar argument has been used in regards to Sasquatch and Yeti, though, like Mokele Mbembe, they have problems too. (But that’s another video).
Though I try to maintain a high standard of quality, my pronunciation is sometimes less-than-stellar. Feel free to set any errors straight in the comments.
Also, the term ‘living fossil’ may strike some as a bit archaic and, for the most part, it is. But the term is widely used during discussions of cryptids and I thought the context appropriate. Here is an article from Scientific American that deals with this issue:

Several books on Mokele Mbembe are available, Roy Mackal’s being one of the better entries. If you like travelogues and a reasonably vivid chronicle of a trip through the Congo, you might find a used copy worth your time:
