The presentation of the Montessori Teens Board (AKA the Seguin Board) introduces the child to the concept of the teens. Unspoken are the words: "What is eleven?", one more than ten, "What is twelve?", two more than ten, "What is thirteen?", three more than ten. Throughout the lesson the language is intentionally concise to allow the child observer to predict the lesson as it unfolds. Visually the presentation of the material allows for the child to observe the pattern within the material and to connect the symbolic representation of numbers to the concrete example of the beads as well as the language spoken.
