This is a tutorial video for the main scenario of Frostpunk, showing one of the ways through which you can get a deathless run. If you haven't played the game yet, close the video as this will spoil it a lot.
First Laws: Emergency/Extended Shift - Soup - Overcrowding (Sustain life or radical treatment doesn't matter, we won't have any gravely ill)
First techs: Faster Gathering - Beacon - Hunters G. - Steam Hubs - Steelworks
To progress faster, we aim for specific technologies, such as the wall drill for wood, and outpost depot for coal. You'll notice we skip many early technologies to get those (and that I almost ran out of coal for delaying the outpost too much, don't be like me.)
We also avoid scripted deaths by only using emergency shift once, and sign specific laws to avoid excessive starvation and sickness which can cause early deaths.
Note that some things are randomized, and I purposely picked crash site to explore last as that is the worst outcome you can get. I did not save on gloomy cave which has a 50% chance of killing the scouting team, but ended up getting lucky. If you lose them it doesn't matter much, but you can save if you feel more comfortable with that.
I tried to limit micromanagement to the first few days, though sending the sick people to scout on day 2 is probably optional too.
Mistakes to note in this play-through:
I delayed the outpost too much and got a close call with the coal supply, but in other attempts I also got starvation problems for making too few hunting huts, both are worth looking out for. I also forgot to link up a road for a long time, which is minor.
