Scorecards at the range get people thinking more about numbers and less about improving as a shooter. I like to pick something specific with which I'm struggling and hammer away at it until I see progress. Shotgun Summer continues with more tips to help you become a better bird hunter. When we're on the clay range we try to simulate shooting in the field. (That's why you'll also see us practicing on the skeet range instead of the sporting clays course -- the bulk of upland shots are quartering away or straight away).
Most of these things we do without thinking. But since we've been instructing more and more people in how to prepare for wild birds, we try to slow things down and explain how we practice and prepare for the season.
We try to take out as many variables as possible when practicing so that we can focus on becoming better shooters. It's a good chance to break in this brand new Franchi Instinct SLX 20 gauge.
