Today I show you how to make refried beans in the instant pot! this recipe is great for meal prep because its easy to make, you can make a big batch of it and it re heats well in tacos, burritos, enchiladas and anything else you want to use it in!

ingredients:
1 lb dry black beans, sorted and rinsed
5 cups water
1 onion diced
2 jalapeños chopped
4 garlic cloves chopped
4 bay leaves
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp chili powder
small pinch of salt to taste if desired - I only used 1/2 tsp of Trader Joes chicken less seasoning salt
press "manual" or "pressure cook" and set time to 45 minutes. I did a full natural release for about 20 minutes. When its done scoop out some of the excess liquid or turn the instant pot on "saute" and let it boil off. blend with an immersion blender to the consistency you like.
if you want to use pinto beans instead you can take off 5 minutes of time, they cook faster than black beans.
