The hamstring group of the hip joint muscles cover the caudal part of the thigh. They extend from the ischium to the tibia and their tendinous components continue as part of the common calcanean tendon.
This group of muscles comprises:
• Biceps muscle of the thigh (m. biceps femoris)
• Abductor muscle of the thigh (m. abductor cruris caudalis)
• Semimembranous muscle (m. semimembranosus)
• Semitendinous muscle (m. semitendinosus)
