Here's my review of the Morihei #9000 grit Japanese whetstone. I used it right out of the box initially by touching up my Filarmonica straight razor. I then lapped the stone and again used the same razor and you can actually hear an audible difference in the feedback. What I was trying to show was the importance of lapping a new stone. I also touched up one of my favourite kitchen knives - Masakage Koishi Gyuto. I got a mirror finish on the bevels of both blades. I would recommend this stone for both straight razors and kitchen knives. However most users would not need a #9000 grit stone for their daily kitchen knives. I also mentioned that if you have a 4k/8K combo stone you most likely would not need a premium polishing stone like this as the 8K side will pretty much do the same thing as a 9K stone.
