The southern part of India braces itself for a severe cyclonic impact as the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry prepare for the upcoming super cyclonic storm which is expected to make landfall post midnight today along the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast. Puducherry has evacuated low-lying areas and 24,166 people have been shifted to 987
relief camps. According to satellite information, the cyclone Nivar may hit between Karaikal in Puducherry and Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu. Parts of the three southern states are also expected to experience heavy rainfalls. NDRF teams are ready and deployed in the expected impact areas and are on high alert.
