Short, medium and long-term corruption trends for Vanuatu and neighbouring Pacific Island countries are presented in this video using scores published by Transparency International in their 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) report.
The video reviews Vanuatu’s performance in addressing corruption in the periods 2012-2023, 2018-2023 and 2022-2023.
Vanuatu’s CPI score recorded a favourable overall improvement in 2017-2023. After advancing in 2017-2018, the country’s CPI score slipped back in 2019-2020 but a recovery followed in 2020-2022.
The rate of change in the country’s CPI score exceeded the rate of change in average Asia-Pacific and global CPI scores in 2017-2023 and 2018-2023 but was less than the rate of change in average Pacific Islands CPI scores in these periods.
Vanuatu’s CPI score exceeded average Pacific Island CPI scores continuously throughout 2017-2023 and also exceeded average Asia-Pacific and global CPI scores during the majority of the latter period. #corruption #vanuatu #pacificisland
