Sky News senior reporter Caroline Marcus says the “bar was set very low” for Elon Musk to be named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were awarded the title in 2020.
The magazine cited the breadth of Mr Musk's work and contribution to a cleaner planet.
He was also admired for the sway he holds over his loyal followers and investors on social media.
