In this episode, Ben shares with Mind Pump TV how to properly use intra-set stretching for the BEST Hamstring workout. What you're focusing on is taking the muscle through its fully lengthened position under load and under tension. Make sure your set-up is perfect. This is essentially a stiff legged deadlift and is the most lengthened opportunity to stretch your hamstrings.
- Forget you have the dumbbells in your hands.
- Take your hip joint as far back as you can
- Hips back to the wall.
- Load your heels
- Hips back stop repeat as far as you can go
- Aggressively drive your heels into the ground
- Take the hip joint back
- Engage your glutes
- Pull back up to the top
- It may feel like a small range of motion - that's ok
- Keep knees locked or slightly bent for hamstring focus
- Bent knees for glute focus
- Remember to relax your breathing
- Keeping a neutral spine
- Close your eyes and feel the stretch
- Breathe through your knows
- Not a destination it's a stretch
- Massive amount of intramuscular tension
- Mindful focus and mindful attention
