Right when you start to wrap your head around angular momentum this problem shows up. The angular momentum of a rotating object is pretty easy, but the angular momentum of a particle is a bit complicated. Putting those two ideas together can create a properly confusing knowledge set.

This problem comes up in introductory physics courses including AP Physics 1, AP Physics C Mechanics, A Level Physics and tests such as the JEE.
