Welcome to Kolsay Lake 1and 2! I think I found one of the most beautiful places to visit in Kazakhstan this week.
Sometimes something terrible can lead to something beautiful, and that’s exactly the case with the Kolsay Lakes in Southern Kazakhstan. An devastating earthquake followed by a landslide over 100 years ago helped form these two stunning petrol-green lakes located 3 hours from the city of Almaty.
I set our for a 2 day trip to hike between the lakes and see their beauty with my own eyes, on a 16km lake past a river, through a forest and up a mountain to find Kolsay Lake 2.
