On UNC-TV's Legislative Week in Review, State Health Director Dr. Randall Williams discusses the benefits of a new piece of legislation which he promoted during the short session. The new law allows Williams to have a standing order for a prescription drug called NARCAN, which is an anti-overdose drug that cleans the harmful opioid chemicals from the brain. The bill makes it easier for an individual to obtain the antidote, since they do not have to first go get a prescription from a doctor.
