One of our customers claimed non-detect while using MaxTag at the toll, so we decided to do a video to prove to the customer that our unit works perfectly fine.
So here we will list down what might be the cause during the buyer's toll journey for non-detect, and how to prevent this from happening to you.
1. Tinted Film with over 95% infra-red rejection
SmartTAG/ MaxTag unit relies on infra-red signals to work, therefore if the IR rejection is too high, it will block the signals and therefore can't detect. This is usually caused by tint that is not SIRIM certified or does not adhere to JPJ regulation.
Solution1: Open the window and hold MaxTag outside the window
Solution 2: Cut a small hole through windscreen tint
2. MaxTag is taken out after entering the toll
There are 2 beams detecting whether a vehicle with SmartTAG'MaxTag is entering or exiting the toll, if the MaxTag is taken out after passing the first beam, it will not detect cause the system does not detect the MaxTag in the first place
Solution: Take out MaxTag before entering the toll
3. Not Holding The MaxTag correctly
The optimum position is to hold it 45-degree angle like what we did in the video, or get a dashboard holder from us, highly recommended.
4. Toll Plaza is under maintenance
sometimes, the toll operator will do regular maintenance to the SmartTag lane but sometimes forgot to put a sign/blockage, the buyer will have to use a TnG card in this situation.
