In the United Kingdom the number of hospital deaths from coronavirus is nearing 20,000 after almost 700 fatalities were reported within 24 hours.
The death toll is currently at 19,506 but authorities expect it to rise rapidly as deaths outside of hospitals and within nursing homes are recorded.
The UK Transport Secretary has reminded residents to follow lockdown restrictions which have been extended a further three weeks in a bid to slow the spread of the virus.
