Leader of France's conservative party National Rally (RN) Jordan Bardella will lead a new European Parliament grouping.
The new party, Patriots of Europe, was formed between the RN and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s camp.
The two camps' coming together follows a surprise second-round loss for the National Rally in France's snap election.
According to the Herald Sun, Patriots of Europe has now become the third biggest group in the European Parliament.
An Orban’s Fidesz party member and Bardella’s first vice-president Kinga Gal spoke to reporters about their goal.
“Our long-term goal is to change European Union policymaking,” she said.
“Our new group will work to preserve Europe’s Indo-Christian roots, will strive for the strongest protection of Europe’s external borders... and will work for a strong and competitive Europe.”
