Welcome to this PMDG 777 Autoland Tutorial video.
We are flying a Cat IIIb ILS approach on runway 18R at Amsterdam Schipol (EHAM) airport. This is only a practice Cat IIIb approach since the weather is relatively good. We will see how the aircraft basically flares and lands itself.
As mentioned in the video, these are the various "autoland" approaches requirements in low visibility operations:
- Cat IIIb = Decision Height 0, RVR 75 metres
- Cat IIIa = Decision height 50 ft Radio, RVR 200 metres
- Cat II = Decision Height 100 ft Radio, RVR 300-350 metres
The minima are therefore referenced to the radio altimeter and the Minimums ("Mins") knob on the EFIS Panel set to Radio (unlike a cat I ILS approach).
