Chelsea forward Pedro has admitted that Manchester United’s treatment of his former team-mate Victor Valdes had an effect on him as he mulled over his future this summer.
The Spain winger stops short of saying it was what made him move to London over Manchester, instead saying United dragged their feet too much over his signing.
But in an interview in Marca published in Spain on Thursday, he does show disapproval of the way his long-term friend has been treated.
Asked if it was why he did not end up playing for Louis van Gaal, Pedro says: ‘No. It’s true that I don’t like to see my team-mates treated in this way, especially Victor who has always been a great friend to me and a top professional.
